Dr. Reggae and the Positive Sound The hottest new reggae soundsystem in Israel!

Throughout the last decade of the twentieth century, DR. REGGAE, AKA Tal Grubstein, of Radio Reggae Power fame teamed up with talented Israeli youthmen, to perform as a reggae sound-system at parties and festivals and as support act at big reggae concerts. Initially under names made up for the occassion such as 106 FM Soundsystem, and Addis Abbaba Crew, since August 2001, the project has taken on more permanent form, under the new name Dr. Reggae and the Positive Sound started to regularly play at clubs and festivals, giving a stage to upcoming reggae talents from the Negev area, regulars as well as guests, and bringing irie roots reggae, dub, as well as the hottest new reggae dancehall music from Jamaica and the UK to a wide and widening Israeli audience. Positive Sound's regulars, DJ. Raz Lahav and selector Dr.Reggae are both known from the Radio Reggae Power show, Israel's most popular reggae radio show. Guest MC Mister Irie (French) is currently joining the Positive Sound shows.
Recently, Dr.Reggae Positive sound teamed with Michael G. from Easy Star Record (USA) for Reggae Under the moon Tour Feat. Easy Star Top Album 'Dub Side Of The moon' 18/6/04 Kibbutz Niram and 28/6/04 Q outdoor bar.

Dr. Reggae (RAW #1133) is a wellknown reggae DJ/MC, radio reggae DJ and selecter, who played at many reggae (and other) festivals, reggae gigs and parties with "sound systems" formed for the occassion for many years, with irie, hot, energetic and very talented DJs, selectors and singers of the 106 FM Sound, the Addis Abbaba Crew, etc. Dr. Reggae and DJ Raz Lahav of Reggae Power fame now form the hard core of the Positive Sound soundsystem, and are ready and able to heat up the dance in any reggae festival, concert, or party, or even to spread the reggae roots, dancehall, and dub vibes at general festivals and parties. Bringing their ital and vital selections of the hottest and latest Jamaican dancehall tracks, the spaciest dub riddims, and the rootsiest roots, from their large collection, they are sure to rule de dance! Dr. Reggae and sound(s) performed at clubs and reggae as well as general music festivals throughout Israel, such as the one called Nomad Message Festival, in Park Eshkol in the Negev, with Roots Africa, Silver Don & Fantastics, Mandragora, and Max Pashm, friday june 25th 1999, where Dr. Reggae was powered by 20,000 Watts, the Tel Aviv Reggae 2000 Festival (opening for Cutty Ranks & Prezident Brown), the Breeishit 2000 and 2001 Festivals (the biggest outdoor festival in Israel), the 2001 "Boombamela" new age festival, see below for a small review, at Dinamo Devash 2002 Opening for the the NATURALITES, the Israel Reggae Festival 2002 at Rasta Club Tel Aviv, and the Reggae Nights at Kibutz Tzeelim, a well as many other parties and concerts.

"Dr. Reggae and his Addis Ababa Crew Soundsystem appeared in this year's"Boombamela" new age festival that took place on Nitzanim beach in the south of the country. 20,000 people converged on the beach during the four-day festival from April 11 to April 14. They brought tents and sleeping bags and took part in various alternative workshops, attended meditation sessions, and listened to ethnic music and famous Israeli DJ's play different kinds of music and watched theater and dance performances.

The reggae "event" was said to be one of the highlights of the festival. More than 4,000 people cheered and sang along during the Friday afternoon set of Reggae roots and dub played by Dr.Reggae and The Addis Abbaba crew. The crowd really responded to the positive messages of peace, unity, one blood and anti-racism from Naftali the 'Addis' MC ."
